Boys Lacrosse

Overview

Our mission is to provide an opportunity for the players to participate in an organized and competitive sport of football, basketball and lacrosse. We will develop each player to engage at a competitive level. We believe in giving the players a firm foundation in the many individual and team skills required to be a strong player. We are collectively committed to developing the character and skills for players of all levels by teaching the rules of the sport, developing self-esteem, and teaching respect for fellow players, officials, and traditions of the game. We strive to create an environment that is safe, organized and fun.

Our goal of the Vernon Hills Cougars Youth Lacrosse is looking to develop players to ultimately compete at the high school level. We will strive to play the best team lacrosse possible. This will be achieved by hard work, unselfish play, discipline and knowledge of the game. It is recommended that each player practices stick handling, passing and catching on non-practice days. Practices will consist mostly of drills, conditioning and team strategy. At the highest level, lacrosse games are not won by one player’s individual effort, but by teamwork, ball possession, limiting turnovers, taking good shots and forcing your opponent into taking bad shots.
