Our mission is to provide an opportunity for the players to participate in an organized and competitive sport of football, basketball and lacrosse. We will develop each player to engage at a competitive level. We believe in giving the players a firm foundation in the many individual and team skills required to be a strong player. We are collectively committed to developing the character and skills for players of all levels by teaching the rules of the sport, developing self-esteem, and teaching respect for fellow players, officials, and traditions of the game. We strive to create an environment that is safe, organized and fun.
Girls Basketball Commissioner
Thank you so much for the great effort we saw during the tryouts! The future of Vernon Hills Girls Basketball is certainly bright.
If you child did not make the team, we encourage that they still play through the park district or club basketball and we hope to see them again next season!
Below are the results; please then register your daughter for the season (similar to how you did for the tryouts; scroll down below for the link) as soon as you are able. Please let me know via email if you will pass on the offer so that we can then reach out to fill the roster spot with another player.

1. When registration will get open and where do we need to sign up to enroll?
You will register at https://www.vhcougars.org/
This usually opens in late September
2. What's the last date of enrollment?
We ask that you register when it opens and anytime before your tryout date.
3. The games/ practices are on weekends or weekdays? & how many days a week?
Our schedule is not consistent because we get our gym time from the High School where we have all of our practices and home games. They send us a schedule of what is available and we have to plan our games and practices. We have games and practices on weekdays and weekends depending on gym time available. We will start the season with 3 practices per week in November and then games will begin in December where we will have events 2-3 times per week, again dependent on gym time. There is not a specific day of practice because we use what is given to us
Games could start in November based on our league also the schedule is posted 1-2 months in advance once we get rolling with practices and games
4. How many hours in each session and generally what are the timing (like last year timing)?
Each practice is 1 1/2 -2 hours and games are about 1hr 15min. We will always practice in the evening starting around 6-6:30pm weekdays. For the weekend we will have events after 12pm usually.
5. Fees Details
$550 5th/6th and $600 7th/8th (subject to change)
6. Whether there will be any travel outside the Chicago Suburbs?
We only go outside of Chicago suburbs for our 1 tournament in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
7. Please help me to understand about tryouts and when will that be scheduled? Is it kind of a test for getting enrolled?
Tryouts are 2 days and each tryout is 1h 30 min where we evaluate the players and make the teams for the season. We will post tryout numbers on our website of any players that make the team. This year, tryouts are Oct. 22 and 24th and teams will be posted on the 25th.
